Egypt 2014 - White Desert and Farafra Oasis
A great week in Egypt's White Desert 700 km's SW of Cairo. Treated and welcomed with great hospitality and kindness by everyone we met on our way. The trip included a visit to the local school - a visit which escalated from local eagerness to treat us well with the hope of us returning home and try to convey the message that Egypt is not as dangerous as western media try to tell us. A visit to Farafra's NGO-factory where local bedouin women weaved from camel wool allowed us rather unusually to take pictures also of the women wearing niqab. Egypt's White Desert was sea bottom 42 million years ago and is covered with white structures. Fossils of corals, mussels etc. are everywhere in the desert.
